"WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT WIVES"

The Bible says that a woman who is a wife has chosen a "good thing" for herself (Proverbs 18:22). She is to love and submit to her husband as she would to Christ (Ephesians 5:22-31; Titus 2:4; 1 Peter 3:1; Colossians 3:18). The Bible says that a wife is to be an industrious person who labors to help provide for her family (Proverbs 31:10-31; 1 Timothy 5:13). There is nothing in the Bible that promotes a woman to seek her glory and fulfillment in a career outside the home, especially if she fails in her God given role as wife (and/or mother) because of it.

The Bible says that wife is to be a "homemaker" ('Titus 2:5; Proverbs 14:1). In doing this she is the "helper" that God meant her to be to her husband (Genesis 2:18). The Bible says that she is not to attempt to take authority away from the man (1 Timothy 2:12-14).

The Bible says that a wife can have the greatest impact on her husband, particularly if he is not a christian, by using her life as an example to him (1 Peter 3:1-7). Her continued efforts to impact her husband with her words only comes across as nagging (Proverbs 1.9:13-14; Proverbs 21:9,19; 25:24).

The Bible also says that a wife can have a great impact on others by the way she dresses (I Peter 3:3-4). This is particularly important in order to avoid causing men that she comes in contact with to lust after her (Matthew 5:27-28). The Bible says that a woman's sexual obligation is to her husband alone (1 Corinthians 7:1-9). She is not to be one who attempts to seduce men other than her husband (Genesis 39:6-20; Proverbs 2:16; 5:20; 6:24; 7:5; 20:16; 23:27).

The Bible says that when God made Eve He did so with the intent that her highest calling would be as the "wife" of Adam (Genesis 2:18-25). If both the wife and the husband know this, and the wife submits herself both to God and to her husband, her life will be full and pleasing to God (Psalm 128:3). She must never feel that God has placed a curse on her as the "weaker vessel," (1 Peter 3:7). If her husband shows her the honor she is due as his wife then this will not be a problem.
