"WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT PROMISES"

The Bible says that God has made and kept countless promises toward mankind (James 2:5; 1 Timothy 4:8; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Kings 8:56). The Bible says that God will always be faithful in keeping the promises He has made (Hebrews 10:23; Romans 4:19-22; 2 Peter 1:4). In 1 John 2:25 the Bible says, "And this is the promise that He has promised us; eternal life "This is God's greatest promise to christians.

The Bible says that God, while promising His people many things, never promises life without challenges and difficulties (2 Timothy 3:12; John 16:33). Even in temptation God promises not the absence of temptation but a way of escape WITH the temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). The way of escape is always there. It always will be.

The Bible says that: as God keeps His promises so should His people (Numbers 30:1-13; Deuteronomy 23:21-23; Ecclesiastes 5:4-6). Because we should strive to keep all the promises we make we should be careful not to make promises hastily. The Bible says that Herod promised Herodias anything she wanted after she performed a very seductive dance for him. When she asked for the head of John the Baptist Herod was sorry he made the promise but felt bound to keep it and did (Matthew 14:1-12).

The Bible says that the person who promises something to another but does not fulfill the promises has violated the will of God (Matthew 21:28-31). When Peter promised Jesus that he would go both to prison and to death with Him Peter really meant it (Luke 22:33-34). Later, however, Peter did exactly what the Lord said he would do. He broke the promise he had made to the Lord (Luke 22:47-62).

The Bible says that we should have patience in receiving the fulfillment of God's promises to us (Hebrews 10:36; 2 Peter 3:4-13). If we are as faithful in keeping our promises as God is in keeping His the world will be better for it.
