"WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT HUSBANDS"

The Bible says that a husband is one who has authority and occupies a position of headship in his own household (Ephesians 5:22-24; 1 Corinthians 11:3; Genesis 3:16). In this God given position the Bible says that a husband is to be obeyed (1 Peter 3:5-6; Titus 2:5; Colossians 3:18). He is to be respected by his wife (Ephesians 5:33). She was created for him (1 Corinthians 11.8-9).

The Bible says that a husband should provide for his family (1 Timothy 5:8). He should love his wife as his own body and honor her as the (physically) weaker one of the two (Ephesians 5:25-33; 1 Peter 3:7). The Bible says that a husband should praise his virtuous wife for her support of him and for her godly life (Proverbs 31:28).

The Bible says that a godly husband takes great pride in a virtuous wife (Proverbs 31:11). In Proverbs 12:4. The Bible says, "... an excellent wife is the crown of her husband but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones. "

The Bible says that a husband is to leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife (Genesis 2:23-24). He is not allowed the option of divorce unless there is irreconcilable immorality brought on by hardness of heart (Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:11; Matthew 19:9).

The Bible says that a husband has a sexual and physical responsibility to meet his wife's needs (1 Corinthians 7:2-5). Likewise, he is to find his own fulfillment exclusively with his wife (Proverbs 5:15-19).

If a husband is as focused on being a good husband as he is on all the other things in his life the chances are excellent that his marriage and family life will be a success (Deuteronomy 24:5). The other areas of his life will never be what God has intended if the man is a sorry excuse for a husband (1 Samuel 25:2-38).
