The Bible
says that we are saved by hope (Romans 8:24). Our hope in Christ is the
anchor of our souls (Hebrews 6:19). The Bible says our hope is to be
steadfast (2 Corinthians 1:7). We rejoice in it (Romans 12:12). We
abound in it (Romans 15:13).
The Bible
says that the hope we have in Christ is to remain with us until the end
of our earthly lives (Hebrews 6:11; 1 Peter 1:13). In Romans 8:24-25 the
Bible says, "For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is
not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?" {25} "But if we
hope for what we do not see, then we eagerly wait for it with
perseverance. " The Bible says that
the hope for a christian is to avoid the destruction placed on a
rebellious and disobedient world (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Acts 23:6).
The Bible
says that because christians are promised a resurrection and an escape
from the destruction that is ultimately coming upon the world we do not
"...sorrow as others who have no hope... " (1Thessalonians
4:13-18). The atheist, the humanist, and people who place all their hope
and future in this world only are the ones who will inevitably
experience great sorrow. The Bible says that these who have no hope of
anything beyond this life are those who are "... without God in the
world.. " (Ephesians 2:12). In contrast the christian's hope is laid up
in heaven (Colossians 1:5).
The Bible
declares that christians eagerly await the fulfillment off their hope in
Christ (Galatians 5:5). The christian's hope is one of the greatest
elements of the foundation of the christian life (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Without this hope we would of all people be the most pitiable on earth
(1 Corinthians 15:19). With it there is no obstacle that is too
formidable for christians to face and to overcome (2 Corinthians 1:7).
